Nursery to Primary 1 Transition

At Southdale Primary School, we place a high value on ensuring a positive and successful transition from Nursery to Primary 1. We recognise that starting school is a significant milestone for both children and their families, and we work closely with our nursery colleagues, children and parents to make this experience as smooth and enjoyable as possible.

Throughout the transition process, children are given opportunities to become familiar with their new environment, meet staff, engage in learning experiences and build relationships with their future classmates. By working in partnership with families and sharing information effectively, we ensure that each child feels supported, confident and ready to begin their school journey.

Our carefully planned transition programme helps children develop a sense of belonging from the outset, laying strong foundations for learning, wellbeing and success as they move into Primary 1.
