P7 - S1 Transition

At Southdale Primary School, we place a high value on ensuring a positive and successful transition from Primary 7 to S1 at Armadale Academy. We recognise that moving to secondary school is a significant milestone for young people and their families, and we work closely with colleagues at Armadale Academy to ensure that pupils feel supported, confident and prepared for the next stage of their learning journey.

Throughout the transition process, pupils are provided with a range of opportunities to become familiar with their new school environment, meet key staff, participate in learning experiences and develop relationships with their future peers. By working in partnership with families and sharing information effectively between schools, we ensure that each young person is well supported both academically and emotionally.

Our carefully planned transition programme helps pupils develop a sense of belonging and readiness for secondary school, building confidence, resilience and independence as they move from Southdale Primary School to Armadale Academy. This strong partnership approach supports continuity in learning and wellbeing, helping every learner make a successful start to S1.
